Last Saturday was perfect. The weather was a combo of bright sunshine coupled with clouds & rain… classic weather in Portland, Oregon. My day was spent cruising around town doing the shopping that provides me with inventory. A surprising bonus was little traveling solo. Sharing the day with friends & family is sweet but sometimes solitary me-time is sweeter, lol.
Vintage red tiger brand bandanas
My happy find of the day was a stash of 12 vintage bandana handkerchiefs in two different red prints. These were Tiger brand, marked with the white tiger head and “wash fast color” in the corner. Woo-hoo! At some time they were laundered or twice so they’re soft and ever-so-gently faded. Probably purchased to use as napkins for a picnic, they look like they spent the last 50+ years safely tucked away in a drawer.

An interesting detail on these red and white bandanas is the white cotton thread used for stitching the hems; usually the thread is the same color as the fabric so it blends in. The white adds a nice graphic detail on three sides of the bandana; the other side is the selvedge.
